MU Hybrid Art House - 2023
For my mini-internship at MU Hybrid Art House, I collaborated with a classmate on the graphic design of Explore-S, an interactive activity that invites young people to explore Strijp-S through artistic assignments. The project was part of MU’s 25th anniversary celebrations and aimed to encourage participants to discover what art can be — on the street, in images, in conversation, and through experience.
Our assignment was to design a series of A5 cards featuring questions, tasks, and directions that guide participants on a creative journey. Each card focuses on a different cultural or visual discipline, such as photography, drawing, filmmaking, or observation.
Design
The style of the cards is playful yet clear, with a distinct color code for each area or theme (such as Sky High or Influence). The background colors are matched to the map of Strijp-S, helping participants visually navigate the area. Icons at the top of each card quickly indicate the type of activity (e.g., filming, drawing, or discovering), making the cards more accessible, even for younger participants.
Typography and layout were intentionally kept simple and clear, ensuring the assignments are easy to read while walking or working together. Each card combines text and images and is designed to encourage action, interaction, and curiosity.
My role
During this project, I contributed ideas for the visual identity of the set, coordinated the color schemes with the map, and independently developed various card designs. I also worked closely with my classmate to maintain a consistent visual language throughout. The cards were ultimately used during MU’s anniversary event and remain a permanent part of their educational offerings.
